Year 4
Welcome to our Year 4 class page
In Year 4 we are happy, kind and enthusiastic. We know the importance of having aspirations and resilience - we try hard in all we do.

Mrs Austin is our teacher and Miss Ore supports our learning too.
Autumn Term News
What an incredible half term it has been in Year 4! We have soared across all subjects showing curiosity, creativity and resilience every step of the way.
We ventured into the world of dragons, crafting stories filled with fire-breathing beasts, enchanted lands, and brave heroes. The children's writing has shown fantastic progress in structure, vocabulary and flair. In addition, our reading lessons have come alive with fluency and intonation. Pupils have grown in confidence, bringing characters and narratives to life.
In Science, we've been learning how plants and animals can be classified. From flowering plants to vertebrates and invertebrates. Pupils have developed a strong understanding of the diversity in life around us.
A stand out moment this half-term has been our journey into Roman history. We explored how Roman innovations-from roads to architecture-have shaped modern life. The children loved learning about Roman soldiers, daily life, and the legacy they left behind.
Above all, our greatest achievement has been embracing the power of yet. Whether tackling a tricky maths problem or refining a piece of writing, the pupils have shown a growth mindset-believing that with effort and perseverance, they can achieve anything.

Reading in KS2
As a school we love to read and think this is really important. It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library. The children should be completing accelerated reader quizzes, when they have finished their book.
You can access accelerated reader here -
