 Year 4

Welcome to our Year 4 class page

In Year 4 we are happy, kind and enthusiastic. We enjoy coming to school every day and learning new things.  We know the importance of resilience and never giving up - we try hard in all we do.

Miss Penrose is our teacher and Mrs Thomas supports our learning too.

Spring Term News
Year 4 have had such a brilliant term since returning from Christmas. We have seen so much incredible progress in the children, both academically and as role models preparing for their last term before being the ‘top’ of the school. Alongside this, we have welcomed some new faces into the class, and the children have been beyond impressive in the way the new children have settled in, and the existing class have welcomed. We are so proud of you, Year 4! This term the children have been applying their cross-stitch skills with the very talented hands of Mrs Thomas, and have all successfully rainbows onto pieces of binca. In geography, we have explored what life is like in the jungle, and applied their knowledge of animals from science to understand what lives there and why. The children have really enjoyed learning about all of the weird and wonderful animals of the Amazon Rainforest, in particular, the Giant Amazonian Centipede and the Goliath Bird Eating Spider… google them if you dare! We finished our term with bikeability, which the children demonstrated confidence with and bell boating in preparation for our upcoming regatta in June. All of the children who took part in this had a brilliant day and showed some real determination in learning a new skill. It has been such a fantastic term and Mrs Thomas and I can’t wait to see what the children can achieve during the Summer Term!

Reading in KS2
As a school we love to read and think this is really important.  It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library. The children should be completing accelerated reader quizzes, when they have finished their book.
You can access accelerated reader here -
