 Year 4

Welcome to our Year 4 class page

In Year 4 we are happy, kind and enthusiastic. We know the importance of having aspirations and resilience - we try hard in all we do.

Mrs Austin is our teacher and Miss Ore supports our learning too.

Spring One News
At the start of this new calendar year and term, it has been wonderful to see how much the children have grown, not only physically but also in their maturity and confidence.
Spring One has been full of exciting new learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, with Outdoor Learning Week being a particular highlight as we created bird feeders and produced artwork using natural materials. We are thoroughly enjoying our class reader, Fintan Fedora, and have written thoughtful diary entries inspired by the text.
In Maths, we have been developing our skills in using the column method to add and subtract four-digit numbers, showing increasing accuracy and resilience.
Science has been great fun, with the children carrying out a range of experiments to explore our topic, 'States of Matter' and in Geography, we have strengthened our atlas skills and built our foundational knowledge of the rivers of the world.
Art has been a real highlight this term; inspired by George Seurat, we have created our own vibrant paintings, hoping to bring a little sunshine to our days.

Reading in KS2
As a school we love to read and think this is really important.  It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library. The children should be completing accelerated reader quizzes, when they have finished their book.
You can access accelerated reader here -
