Reception Class
Welcome to our EYFS class page
We are happy members of the school, always supporting each other and trying our best to be kind and responsible! We love learning and we hope you enjoy looking at all of the wonderful things we do in reception.

Our teachers are Mrs Williams and Mrs Elsdon.
A huge warm welcome to our new Reception class 2026/2027! We are looking forward to welcoming you all on Wednesday 2nd September and start having fun! This term is "all about me". It's our chance to get to know each other, think about our likes and dislikes, understand our facial features and what makes us all unique. We will have lots of opportunity for movement this half term and we will be using the bikes and taking some time over at Forest School. The first session will be on Monday 7th September.
In the first few weeks our main focus is settling the children and allowing them the time and space to build relationships and become familiar with their new environment. We will start to teach phonics this half term and your child will receive reading books but not just yet! We will also have information sessions on how best to support your child during their phonics journey so please keep an eye out for those.

The Curriculum
The EYFS recognises that children need to be able to use concrete experiences to provide the building blocks for their learning. Based on this, the learning ethos behind EYFS encourages a mix of play-based and adult led learning.
Here are some documents you might find useful to have a look at to help your understanding of the EYFS curriculum and how best to support your child in their first year at Badsey First School.
