 Year 4

Welcome to our Year 4 class page

In Year 4 we are happy, kind and enthusiastic. We know the importance of having aspirations and resilience - we try hard in all we do.

Mrs Austin is our teacher and Miss Ore supports our learning too.

Summer One News
Year 4 have had a very successful Summer One and should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved. We have seen a fantastic improvement in both reading and writing, with pupils becoming much more aware of their reader and listener by using clearer expression, richer vocabulary, and greater confidence when sharing their ideas.
In mathematics, we have worked extremely hard to develop our understanding of fractions and decimals-a topic that has certainly challenged us all-but through perseverance and determination, we have made excellent progress. We have also thoroughly enjoyed dancing along with the Supermovers to strengthen our times table knowledge in preparation for our assessment in June, bringing lots of energy and fun to our learning each day.
During the excitement of swimming every day over the last two weeks, we have also immersed ourselves in all things Market Gardening to develop our historical knowledge of our local area. Did you know that the vale of Evesham was once the premier asparagus-growing area in England? We have used our growing knowledge to create planters from recycled materials and planted sunflower seeds, learning more about sustainability and how things grow while developing our creativity and teamwork skills.
Most importantly, we have all matured and shown a truly positive attitude towards our learning, demonstrating resilience, enthusiasm, and determination throughout the term.

Reading in KS2
As a school we love to read and think this is really important.  It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library. The children should be completing accelerated reader quizzes, when they have finished their book.
You can access accelerated reader here -
