Year 2

Welcome to our Year 2 class page

We are an enthusiastic bunch of happy learners who take pride in our classroom and in everything we do.
The BFS values are important to us and we work together to follow them and be our best!

Mrs Austin is our class teacher and Mrs Djukic supports us with our learning.
Autumn One News

Year 2 has got off to a fantastic start, with the children settling in well and already demonstrating excellent behaviour and high-quality work.
They have enjoyed exploring The Lost Words and The Lost Spells, and upcoming English lessons will focus on The Snail and the Whale and The Gingerbread Man, inspiring ocean-themed stories and instruction writing.
In Maths, pupils are developing their understanding of Place Value, counting in 2's, 3's, 5's and 10's and recognising the value of digits in two-digit numbers.
Across the curriculum, children will investigate how Badsey village has changed over time in History, learn about animals and humans in Science, develop drawing skills in Art, and explore an interfaith study in RE.
Above all, we are encouraging a growth mindset, helping one another understand that mistakes are part of growing and learning an that the "Power of Yet" can help us achieve our goals.

Reading in KS1
At Badsey First School, we value the importance of reading.
It is important that your child reads regularly at home to help them consolidate the phonics skills that they have been learning in school, develop their fluency and support their comprehension. Your child's reading book will be changed once they have read the whole book 3 times.
Reading records and reading books need to be in school each day.  When your child reads at school, you will receive feedback in their reading record.
