Forest School
Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning that provides engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities for children in an outdoor environment. Our Forest School is an area of land along the side of our school field that has been developed especially for outdoor learning.
Forest School provides children the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks, how to use their own initiative to solve problems, co-operate with others, grow in confidence and become self-motivated. There are strong links between the learning which happens within the confines of the Forest School and our wider curriculum.
At Badsey, all children from Reception to Year 5 have the opportunity to participate in Forest School sessions. Learning is child-led, so every session is different, but activities progress throughout the school from activities such as bug hunting and mud painting in Early Years and Key Stage 1, to using tools such as loppers, peelers, knives and saws in Key Stage 2.
