RE

Here at Badsey First School, our RE curriculum is underpinned by Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus. The principal aim and vision of our curriculum is to foster an understanding of the diverse religious, spiritual, and philosophical beliefs that shape our world.

We want our pupils to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that they can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. We aim to equip pupils with an understanding of the major world religions, including their teachings, scriptures, history, and cultural impact.

Through our RE curriculum, we seek to:

  •        Encourage Spiritual and Moral Development through exploring questions about life, purpose and meaning, while considering the personal and social implications of their choices.
  •        Foster Respect and Tolerance by helping pupils develop the skills necessary to engage in meaningful dialogue about religion and belief, fostering an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and inclusivity.
  •        Develop Critical Thinking by enabling pupils to analyse and evaluate religious beliefs and practices, encouraging them to form well-informed, thoughtful opinions.
  •        Support Personal Reflection by providing opportunities for pupils to reflect on their own beliefs, values, and life experiences, promoting self-awareness and the ability to respect differing viewpoints.

Our RE curriculum supports the school's overarching ethos of promoting community, respect, and understanding, preparing pupils to be thoughtful, compassionate citizens in a diverse and interconnected world.
