RE

Our RE curriculum is designed to engage and enthuse learners whilst nurturing their understanding and awareness of belonging and diversity - whatever their own family background, personal beliefs and practices.

It is our intent that children will learn about a range of religions and world views and - through mutual respect, tolerance of others’ views and exposure to different religious views - pupils will gain a deep knowledge and understanding of the modern world.

In doing so, we enable our children to make their own informed decisions and to have the aspiration and confidence to voice their views.

In our school, we follow the Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus. The Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE purpose statements underpin the syllabus which support pupils and teachers in fulfilling them:

- Religious Education contributes to young people's education by provoking questions  about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God and issues of right and wrong.

- Pupils learn about religions and beliefs in local, national and global contexts.

-RE should develop in pupils an aptitude for dialogue so that they can contribute positively in our society, with its diverse religions and beliefs.

-Pupils should gain and deploy the skills needed to understand, interpret and evaluate texts, sources of wisdom and authority and other evidence. They should learn to articulate clearly and coherently their personal beliefs, ideas, values and experiences while respecting the rights of others to differ.
