Year 2
Welcome to our Year 2 class page

Spring Term News
We are well on our way to being ‘Junior’ ready. The presentation of the children’s work is a particular highlight with their cursive script in full swing and the weekly improvement in multiplication knowledge blows me away!
In writing, the children have particularly enjoyed reading and writing a sea shanty as well as listening to our class texts ‘The Jolley-Rogers', we’ve all discovered that we love a good adventure!
Maths has been a little tricky as we have been learning about measures and fractions, but the children’s perseverance has meant they have been rewarded. We have particularly enjoyed relating this learning to baking!
We are budding historians with our knowledge of The Great Fire of London, and it has been wonderful to hear about the extra research and enrichment visits the children have done linked to this topic. In Geography we are learning about all things Badsey, carrying out fieldwork and learning about the village. Most recently we collected data about the human and physical features we can see around our school. This has linked nicely to our work on Plants where the children are busy investigating what a plant needs to grow. We are trying to grow wildflowers, sunflowers and flowers from bulbs; we will keep you posted!
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, we have learned the Easter story and had our learning enriched by a visit from Vicar Jo who spoke to the children about the real meaning of Easter for Christians. I was immensely proud of the children during the session, their behaviour was exemplary, their questions thought provoking and their reflections after the session were meaningful. This is all starts at home so thank you for your continued support and I look forward to our final term together.
